Creator FAQ
Everything you need to know before you publish
Free for creators, subscription-funded by viewers, revenue-shared with everyone. Here's how it works.
What is AfriVisto?
The streaming platform built for African films, comedy, documentaries, music, and culture. Free for creators, subscription-funded for viewers, revenue-shared for everyone — think Netflix, but 100% African content.
How do I earn with AfriVisto?
Revenue comes mainly from viewer subscriptions, collected into a monthly revenue pool:
- 60% goes directly to creators (the Creator Share)
- 40% is kept by AfriVisto for platform operations, marketing, and growth
What is my payout based on?
Your earnings are based on minutes watched. The system tracks how much time viewers spend on each creator's content each month.
Example: if the Creator Pool is $6,000 and your content makes up 10% of all minutes watched, you earn $600.
The more viewers watch your work, the larger your share of the monthly Creator Pool.
Do I keep my rights?
Yes. You own your work. AfriVisto only asks for a 3-month exclusive premiere before you stream elsewhere.
Why the 3-month exclusive period?
A short exclusive window benefits everyone:
- Builds buzz — viewers know AfriVisto is first to watch
- Fair rewards — revenue stays with creators
- Platform growth — stronger exclusives mean bigger payouts for all
Can I still post on YouTube or TikTok?
Yes — share trailers, teasers, and behind-the-scenes clips. Direct your fans to AfriVisto for the full show and increase your earnings.
What content is welcome, and who can join?
Movies, dramas, comedy, skits, documentaries, music shows, food & culture. Anyone — from first-time creators to full studios. No upload fees.
How do I submit my videos?
Through the Creator Portal: upload, schedule, and track viewers & payouts in one place.
What support does AfriVisto provide?

- Promotion of your content locally and to the diaspora
- Contests & awards with cash prizes
